Ticket - Damper Workshop - 3rd October


Join Meriam Chef and owner of Mabu Mabu, Nornie Bero, in this online damper making workshop at 3pm on October 3rd 2020. 


In this online experience Nornie will share her love of Australian native ingredients and will show participants how they can incorporate Indigenous ingredients and flavours into their own home-cooking. During the session Nornie will make a variety of dampers in Torres Strait Islander style - wrapped in banana leaves. Varieties will include baked with pumpkin, wattleseed and saltbush damper. Nornie will also be sharing her tips on how to get the perfect damper softness, and where to source ingredients.


If you'd like to make your own Torres Strait style damper with native ingredients, we offer a damper making kit on our online store. The kit includes all dry ingredients, native spices (wattleseed and saltbush), and cryovaced banana leaves. Add the damper kit to your cart in our online store, and place your order by 5pm Friday 25th of September to ensure your kit will arrive in time for the class.


Participants can still make the pumpkin variety with ingredients they can source in their pantry or local supermarket.
